1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Detour Inc. ("Chari Stroll", "we", "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use the Chari Stroll platform at charistroll.com and charistroll.mysharetribe.com (the "Platform").

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, phone number, and country of residence, provided when you register.
  • Booking information: rental dates, selected Provider, and any messages exchanged with a Provider through the Platform.
  • Payment information: processed directly by Stripe; Chari Stroll receives confirmation of payment and limited card metadata (such as card brand and last four digits) but does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Usage information: pages visited, device and browser type, and general location, collected automatically via Google Analytics (GA4).

3. Information We Do Not Collect

Chari Stroll does not collect, receive, or store copies of your government-issued identification (such as a driver's license or passport). Identity verification takes place in person between you and the Provider at the time of pickup, and any photograph or photocopy taken for that purpose is retained solely by the Provider and destroyed promptly after confirmed return of the bicycle.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to: operate and improve the Platform; process Bookings and payments; communicate with you about your Booking; provide customer support; detect and prevent fraud; and comply with legal obligations.

5. How We Share Your Information

We share information with:

  • Providers, to the extent necessary to fulfil your Booking (e.g. your name and Booking details);
  • Stripe, our payment processor, to process payments and off-session charges;
  • Sharetribe, our marketplace software provider, which hosts the Platform and stores account and Booking data on our behalf;
  • Google Analytics, for aggregated usage analytics;
  • Law enforcement or regulators, where required by law.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

6. Cookies and Analytics

The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Analytics (GA4), to understand how visitors use the Platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

7. International Data Transfers

Because Stripe and Sharetribe operate internationally, your information may be processed outside of Japan, including in jurisdictions such as the United States and the European Union. These providers maintain their own data protection safeguards; please refer to Stripe's and Sharetribe's respective privacy policies for detail on their handling of your data.

8. Data Retention

We retain account and Booking information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter to comply with tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Provider-held identification photographs are retained only for the duration of the rental period, as described in Section 3.

9. Data Security

We rely on industry-standard security measures provided by Stripe and Sharetribe to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your Rights
